Teen Yoga

Béa is a specialist teacher of yoga and mindfulness for teens (11-21 years) and a Level 3 Sports Coach (Sport England), trained by Charlotta Martinus and the Teen Yoga Foundation.

Sessions are specifically designed with adolescent development in mind, with the aim of supporting physical and emotional health, releasing tension, promoting a sense of calm and relaxation and building confidence.

I currently offer a weekly public/community Teen Yoga session for young women 12-18yrs:
This is a relaxed and small class and there is no need to have practiced yoga before, to be flexible or to wear leggings! It's for you if you feel that you would like to have space to pause, breathe, rest and reset at the end of the week. You'll be guided and encouraged to find the movements which feel right for you and your body on any given day (which may be different week to week).

I would describe these sessions as "come as you are and take what you need"... we begin the sessions in a variety of ways over a few weeks, sometimes moving, sometimes using our breath or exploring a mindfulness practice as different techniques to ease into the class, allowing students to find those which feel most relevant to them in order to build their own wellbeing 'toolkits'. And the kettle is always on for tea!

Also available:
  • Private 1:1 or small group sessions by arrangement
  • Secondary (11-18+ years) enrichment sessions, PE and wellbeing workshops
Yoga offers an inclusive and non-competitive environment in which teenagers can:
  • Improve balance, co-ordination, strength and focus
  • Deepen their understanding of how they experience stress, using this to release physical and mental tension
  • Learn tools for self-expression that support communication, connection and confidence
  • Access techniques for self-regulation and find a deeper awareness of the changes experienced in their bodies
  • Develop positive attitudes towards wellbeing, physical activity, self-care and relaxation
  • Show respect for themselves, others and the world around them
  • Connect with others of a similar age
